Happy Weekend: Top Favorite Online Videos

    Friday, September 25th, 2009

I know I haven’t been blogging like I want to. These past few weeks I haven’t had any motivation to write, but that is changing. My Autumn muse has arrived and I feel refreshed and creative. For this Happy Weekend post, I would like to share my favorite online videos. I will only embed one. These are in no specific order.

  • Carl Sagan – ‘A Glorious Dawn’ ft Stephen Hawking (Cosmos Remixed)
  • Uganda Skateboard Union’s Video Preview
  • Henry Rollins featuring The Techno Viking (Steve Porter remix) I prefer the original rant (found here:Henry Rollins on rave and modern rock music) but this remix makes me laugh! [NSFW for language]
  • My favorite of all time: (embedded because it is nominated for a Heartland Truly Moving Pictures Award for Documentary Short!)
  • The Archive from Sean Dunne on Vimeo.

Please share your favorite online video in the comments, whether it be funny or inspirational, a clip or a short, an old one or something you just found out about today. Thanks and have a great weekend.

    El Maquinista

    Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I received my Netflix movies last night and saw that I received The Machinist. I can’t remember why or when I put this movie on my queue, but I’m glad I did. I think it might have been one of those “If you like Memento, you might like the Machinist” moments.

Overall it was a really interesting plot. I love psychological thrillers.

In short, it’s about Trevor Reznik (Christian Bale), an industrial machinist, who has chronic insomnia and bad/strange things happen. I really enjoyed the ending, I didn’t expect it.

I was amazed at Christian Bale’s appearance. I didn’t think it was him at first since he was so freakin’ thin. The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 180 pounds in weight down to about 120 pounds in weight to make this film! [according to IMDB]. It was almost gross to see him like that, but that’s who the character was supposed to be, a walking skeleton.

It was also interesting to know that this movie was filmed in Spain, but the movie is set in L.A. They had to make all the scenes appear as if it were filmed in the States (signs, labels, streetlights, etc.)

I’m going to watch it again to catch all the little things I missed the first time around.

If you like dark, psychological, creepy, thriller, sometimes gross movies, rent The Machinist.
