I did it

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

First of my 3 New Year’s resolutions for 2012 was to open an Etsy shop. Knocked that one out on January 1st, 2012. Go team Jane!

Have a look-see. I’ll be updating this plenty within the next week or so.

For the curious, the other 2 resolutions are:
Build a darkroom in the basement
Redesign my studio

Great news! I knocked off another list item from my 101 things to do in 1001 days: 6. Buy a house!!
I am officially a homeowner :)

I closed on a house last week and Jason and I moved in yesterday! We are so very exited! Last night was the first night we slept in the house and it was magnificent! It was so calm and quiet (compared to our previous housing situation ["the house of usher" as my friend called it once]), and I believe I’ve had the best sleep I’ve had since I moved into my first apartment about 3 years ago. The basement is perfect for a band space and an Arts/Crafts studio. I’ve been wanting to paint and make monsters and now I’ll have the space!

Now for the fun part: Unpacking! Jason and I consider this task like Christmas :) Our little space on the 3rd floor of the Punk Rock House was not big enough for all of our things, so we have a lot of stuff in boxes.

We are both so grateful for the friends that helped us yesterday, it was hot, humid and a lot of work, but you guys have no idea how amazing this move is for both of us. Thank you!

Photos soon!

    Hooray for Spring, List Time

    Friday, March 12th, 2010

I’m drinking my last Hazelnut Latte today since next week I will begin my 101 things #93: No Starbucks Coffee for 2 weeks. This is a habit that will be hard to break since there is one that I stop into on my way to work. I’m confident I can do it though. It’s just coffee and there’s free coffee in my office, plus I’ll save some dough. I plan on putting what I would have used for Starbuck in an envelope and putting aside for something special.

Also, I can cross off #86: Say “Yes” to something you normally would say no to. I’m very particular about strangers asking for cigarettes off me and I never do it. I have my reasons, for instance, I really don’t like the idea of giving someone something that I know is bad for them. Yesterday, after work, though, I gave in. I was in a particularly mellow mood walking from the bus to the house and after exchanging ‘good afternoon’ with a passerby. He asked for a cigarette, and to his surprise, I complied. He looked like he had a rough day.

In other news, I’m house hunting. I’ve been very surprised at the amazing response from all of my friends and the help that looks like I’ll be getting. I can’t wait to start looking :)

I’ve had a wonderful week that kicked off with a warm Sunday porch sitting and later an evening at Cocoanut Grove, so I will leave you with a photo from Sunday Night taken by my wonderful friend, Kristen Leep.

Jason and Jane at Cocoanut Grove

Hope you all have a great weekend! I think I’ll be starting #56: Blog everyday for one month soon – Just to warn you ;)

Happy Weekend: More Happy to drown the Blues

    Friday, January 29th, 2010

Man, January is turning out to be such a strange month for me (physically, financially and emotionally). I’m looking forward to see if February has some good surprises around the corner.

I’m going to a birthday dinner for Phil tonight and then the beer fairy is driving up to spend the night with us! I’m sure Nick will come over and we’ll nerd out on board games. Good times!

Here’s a list of ten things that make me happy:

    1. Finding an unexposed roll of film in the fridge
    2. Hugging P.B.ers
    3. Meeting other musician who want to get together and jam
    4. Getting excited about Girls Rock! Indianapolis
    5. Eating Nutella strait from the jar
    6. Writing letters and postcards to friends and family (email me your address and get added to the list!)
    7. Discovering a record in our collection that I haven’t listened to in a long time
    8. Looking at old photos of me and friends (pre-Indiana)
    9. Discovering new ways I can be creative
    10. Making lists :)

    What makes you happy?

    Have a good weekend!!

    Positive, Positive

There has been a lot of negative energy surrounding my home life lately, more so than usual, so I would like to make a list of things that make me happy.

+ listening to Elastica + watching P.B. eat treats + going to band practices (both of them) + budgeting for future things + doing my nails + problem solving + finding my favorite shirts in the bottom of the drawer that I forgot about + playing my bass guitar + meat lasagna + reading “what I wore” blogs + going to shows to see my friends play + making cupcakes + unexpected compliments + Jason + drawing robots and monsters + colorful patterns on fabrics + my awesome friends + my job + making lists

Also, I’m over half-way done with my 101 in 1001. I’ve already started doing a few off the list. As soon as it’s done, I’ll make a page for it.
