It’s been awhile

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Going to see an old friend of mine tonight. It’s been about a year and a half, maybe more, and he’s a drummer. How’s that for luck. I can’t wait.

Bazan

David Bazan

I went to Locals Only with my brother to see David Bazan (of Pedro the Lion, Headphones) perform. Wow. It was beautiful. As he sang his wonderful songs, everyone sat quiet and listened intently, as if we were all in a lecture class about song writing taught by the greatest professor of all. I’m sure we all took mental notes.

Speaking of songwriting, I’ve been challenging myself to do that. I’m writing more often, and next week’s band practice will be a collab of song ideas. I can’t wait.

I’m sad I won’t get to watch Lost with my buds tonight (I’ll catch it online tomorrow morning), but I can’t wait to go see Missing Six perform, I swear they have a show once every year!

Charity dinner and ramblings

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

I had a great time at the charity dinner for Ben last night. Good food (Grilled cheese and desserts), great music (performed by Kate Lamont, Sarah Grain, and Ladonna Goshow [Ben's wife]) and a silent auction. One of my pieces sold for $45 I believe, but the other did not. I decided to give it to Ben and Ladonna as a gift. I drank plenty of wine and played a round of scrabble with my dear friends. It was a good night.

One of the songs LaDonna sang was awesome, it was a cover of Over the Rhine’s “Trouble”. I bought the CD today at Luna Music. I don’t know why I never heard of their music before. Sometimes I can really be out of the music loop :)

David Bazan (of Pedro the Lion, Headphones) is playing on Wednesday at Local’s Only! I’m totally going.

Anyways, just a lazy day today, working on a website with my brother. I have to do the PHP part since he didn’t know how to do that.

Well, back to work and soon, dinner! :)

Rabbit Season, Duck Season, Tax Season

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

I feel a bit rotten today, worn out and used. Tax season is upon us and it is the only season that I dread.

Taxes are not for me. I get too confused easily. The questions asked by my tax program seem easy enough, but I stare at it and wonder if I’m the only one who doesn’t understand what it’s asking.

I guess I’m more freaked out on the outcome of the question rather than the question itself. I mean, I really don’t want the IRS knocking on my door asking me about a question I answered 5 years ago. Seriously, I can’t even remember what I wore/ate/said a few days ago.

Indy Presentation and Urban Planning

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

The Urbanophile had a really great presentation at the Pecha Kucha night on first Friday. I didn’t get to go but he posted a blog about it here.

In addition, here’s a link to a TED presentation by Jamie Lerner about Urban Planning and Space:
