Last night I crawled into bed with a sadness in my heart and a body full of exhaustion.

Three minutes into the darkness my minds starts ticking…I haven’t felt this in a while. An idea! For a painting! Oh my goodness! I quickly jumped out of bed and headed for my sketchbook and pencils and drew, drew, drew. I drew for 30 minutes and there it was: my next painting. Yes! Relief! (To put in perspective, the last 3 serious paintings I did were back in April.)

So I laid once again in bed, smiling. Another five minutes pass, and once again: tick tick tick. Another one?! My sketchbook and pencils were in range this time and I finished another quick sketch. My Body protested “let me sleep!” but my Mind retorted, “Hold on a second! I need to get this out! Do you know how long it’s been?!” and my Body replied with arms crossed, “Fine.”

Before even laying my head a third time, I drew one more and then, fully spent, I rested. Smiling into my dreamland.

I’m going to get some canvas today.

Sleep…must sleep.
